Ugggghhh, I am such a slacker! I have been a part of the coolest
monthly event the last 3 months and I haven’t blogged about ANY of them. Here’s the scoop:
Lindsay, over The Lean Green Bean, has created a wonderful pen pal
program that connects bloggers from all over the country (and Canada!) with
each other in a once-a-month goodie box swap.
You have to sign up soon if you want in on October’s swap as she sends
out the lists on the 5th of every month. You then have until the 15th to
send your box out to your pen pal. One
of the best differences in the way Lindsay does it is that you aren't just
swapping with one person…you get one person’s name to send to and a completely
different person gets your name to send you a box! I love doing it that way – you meet more
people and I think it adds to the excitement!!
This month, September, I was paired with Ann over at Harvest Moon byHand and she did a GREAT job with my box!!
It was filled with wonderful Eat-Me-Right-Now treats (those adorable
marshmallows didn't make it 5 minutes before being torn into!) and something that
was new for me, ingredients and recipes to make everything from soup to
brownies, all representative of her life in Minnesota – so very cool!!
In Ann’s package was Gourmet
House Wild Rice (along with a recipe for Wild Rice Soup from Byerly’s, an
upscale gourmet grocery story in MN – we’re getting a cold snap here in Dallas
this weekend and that recipe is first on my list to make!), Anna’s Ginger Thins from a local museum
called the Gammelgarden which is devoted to Swedish immigration, Leksands Original Swedish Rye Crispbread,
Cupcake Marshmallows (so cute!), All-Natural Fruit Strip that she and
her daughters love, Funky Monkey
Applemon which I loved – they reminded me of the dried apple chips we used
eat as kids when we would go camping, Sliced
Crystallized Ginger to be used in her recipe for Triple Ginger Cookies (hello,
holidays!) and a container of Hersey’s
Chocolate Syrup to be used in her recipe for Iowa Brownies which were
something her daughters made for their geography report on Iowa – I meant to
make these already but life got all crazy and now they are next week’s MUST DO
recipe!!
Thanks again for the great box, Ann!!
I loved everything about it!!
So, Foodie Pen Pals is pretty cool, huh? And I bet you want in on the fun, right? Well here’s how:

It was a pleasure to put find the items for you and share the recipes. I hope you enjoy making them! They are definitely some of our favorite ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by for a visit from Lean Green Bean today.
